The Hunterdon Plateau was formed by wind erosion over hundreds of millions of years. On the plateau are flats and gentle rolling hills over quiet & picturesque roads. The farms, livestock, open space, countless streams, and woods makes for exceptional scenery. The fall colors will delight. The facilities at the Flemington Raritan Baseball Complex at the start are closed. Wawa on Rt. 31 and tons of places are nearby should you need a pit stop before you arrive at the Complex. Bring plenty of drinks & nutrition, there are no food stores on this route. The rest stop at the Kingwood Township Park around mile 17 has public bathrooms and picnic tables. Back in Flemington, are all manner of places for food, coffee & beers. The initial climb out of Flemington is lengthy but none too steep. Go at your own pace and we will regroup at the top. It is easy going once on the plateau. Average pace 8mph on the incline, 12mph average over the entire ride. We will regroup as needed, but riders are expected to ride group pace. The long-term weather forecast looks good. Watch here for the update later in the week. Thanks to Western Jersey Wheelmen for supplying this fine route.
